About us

About The Group

The Exeter Outdoor Group is a friendly walking and social group, with a programme of activities in and around Devon. Our members are generally in the age range from 40s to 60s, but can be slightly older or younger.

Most weekends we organise day and half day walks, which can be on coastal footpaths, riverside or moorland, often finishing the day at a tea room or pub. Most walks start within easy reach of Exeter and we have a car share system for those who wish to use it. We tend to walk at a fairly brisk place, but if you are fairly fit you should be able to keep up with us.

We often organise bike rides around the lanes of Devon, and occasionally other activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, etc. In the summer we have evening walks, usually finishing at a local hostelry. We also have a varied social programme which includes meals out, pub nights, cinema trips, music concerts and social gatherings.

We have regular weekends away, staying in Youth Hostels in the West Country, with some camping trips in the summer months. Long bank holiday weekends can find us travelling further afield.

The Group has a quarterly programme planning event, and all members have the opportunity to run an event or lead a walk should they wish to do so. We are a thriving group that has been running for many years, always looking for new members to join us.

If you are interested in the Group, you are welcome to come along to any event before joining. Just email us and we can forward you a current programme.
